I arrived back home safe and sound after an amazing week at the ACM CHI Conference 2026 in Barcelona. Thanks to Nuria, David, and their fantastic team for all their hard work. During the week, I reconnected with old friends and colleagues, met some incredible new people in the CHI family, and listened to brandnew HCI research. One of my personal highlights was when Yuchong Zhang, Di Fu, Yong Ma, Elmira Yadollahi, Iolanda Leite, and Danica Kragic held a very successful workshop on Interactive AI for Human-Centered Robotics (InterAI) where I presented our work on Adaptive AI in HRI. We received the third place in the Best Paper Award. In the breakout session Jens and I worked with other attendees on challenges in future Human-AI Interaction.
Michael, Stefan, and I, the General Chairs of MuC2026, used the opportunity and organized a joint lunch with the Organization Committee members of Mensch und Computer 2026 at CHI2026, allowing us to distribute the first MuC merchandise and generate excitement for the upcoming conference 🙂
It’s not like you go to CHI for good nightlife but indeed, the nightlife was pretty spot on! Thanks to Oceania CHI, CHI Nordics, German HCI, UCL, and CHI Nederland (CHI NL) for hosting social events during the week and allowing us all to connect outside the conference venue.
And because after CHI is before CHI, I’m already looking forward to the next edition in Pittsburgh with the General Chairs Amy & Anind!
Happy to be part of the CHI2027 crew 💛
